FOOT IN HAND is driven by the vision and values of its Creative Director, dancer/choreographer, Louise Katerega.

Is Foot in Hand a dance company?

Yes - and it’s more than that! Sometimes we go through a cycle of creating, performing and touring new dance pieces. However, sometimes we spend periods of time simply working strategically as an organisation - usually in partnership with other organisations - to create positive changes in peoples lives and in British Dance.

In general, when we are making and touring much of our education and community work revolves around that show and the skills of the people in it. When we are not in production we are free to get more involved with other agendas and organisations.

FOOT IN HAND is an organisation based around creative contemporary dance and its related artforms, which employs and delivers to a wide range of people across and beyond the UK.

FOOT IN HAND makes shows, teaches workshops and runs training programmes, nurturing artists of today with a passion to inspire the artists of tomorrow. We aim to keep our work portable, accessible and relevant - for a changeable profession in a changing world.
HISTORY

FOOT IN HAND began life as company in residence at Derby Dance Centre (now Déda) from 2003 – 2005. Its current programme of work “One Night Only” is supported by Arts Council England and Igniting Ambition, the 2012 Cultural Olympiad Legacy Trust. We also acknowledge support for the early development of this programme from Swindon Dance, The Place, The Place Prize sponsored by Bloomberg Creative Leicestershire and Leicester Haymarket Theatre Trust (now Curve).
